Project Background

The Omo Valley Research Project was established in 2019 by anthropologists Luke Glowacki and Zachary Garfield. Glowacki and Garfield have deep ties to Ethiopia's Omo Valley, which is the home of their long-term anthropological fieldsites. Recognizing the difficulty many youth face in continuing their education due to lack of funding, Glowacki and Garfield launched the Omo Valley Research Project (OVRP) to help provide educational opportunities and develop community-engaged research partnerships. OVRP is committed to helping students in the Omo Valley achieve their dreams through providing scholarships and  mentorship.
